Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots combine to nearly $700 million

The Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots keep on climbing as their combined totals reach $689 million.

A winner in tonight’s Powerball drawing would have the choice of taking home the $389 million jackpot as an annuity or $161.9 million in cash.

A winner in Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing would have the choice of taking home the $300 million jackpot as an annuity or $124.1 million in cash.

“As the jackpots continue to rise, so does the anticipation among players,” said Mark Michalko, chief executive officer of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Good luck to all North Carolinians throwing their hat into the ring.”

As the jackpots continue to rise, players are taking home other nice wins. Friday’s Mega Millions drawing saw a lucky North Carolinian win a $5,000 prize. The winning ticket came from the Church Street BP on Church Street North in Concord. Saturday’s Powerball drawing saw over 19,200 winning tickets statewide.

The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 290 million. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
